Journal #6
The Internet can be a great source of information. However, there are many sites that can be unreliable. One site that I prefer to use is Google. Although it directs you to many other sites, it's very useful in the way that it could probably provide you with information on nearly anything. However, one site that I find unreliable is Wikipedia. This site contains information on close to everything too. But, it's open to everyone and whoever would like to can add information to the article. For instance, if I were looking up information on Wikipedia for how to get rid of a cold, the information I would be reading could be true and false. A doctor could of have edited the article and wrote down correct information. Another person could have edited and wrote down something completely untrue. No one can really determine whether what they're reading is true or not. Wikipedia is unreliable because what you're reading is questionable. I think that one way to know if the the site your looking at could be considered reliable would be to look at it's sources. If you were trying to find home remedies to get rid of a cold, trying a website with a hospital as one of it's sources would be better.
